Friendship and Social Skills for Children

Our speech pathology services

Helping kids communicate in all situations

Learning to interact in social settings is an important skill, but it’s not something that comes naturally to all children, especially if they have language or speech difficulties or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Social skills are the foundation for building relationships and the good news is that we can help!

Social skills training and workshops

We can help kids to practice their social skills in a safe and supportive environment. And above all, we’ll make it fun. Skills we can help you child with include:

  • Greetings and eye contact
  • Turn taking and sharing
  • Problem solving
  • Understanding feelings
  • Giving compliments
  • Listening and paying attention
  • Participating in conversation, including how to enter an existing conversation
  • Understanding tone of voice
  • Developing assertiveness
  • Interpreting body language
  • Thinking from the perspective of others.

Social skills are best practised in a social environment and so we hold social skills groups for children from school starters through to teens. Our programs are often run during school holidays but can also be facilitated on an as-needs basis.

Tailored one-on-one sessions are also available.
